【摘要】:1DefinitionofScopeThisInternationalStandarddefinesaMultimediaContentDescriptionInterface,specifyingaseriesofinterfacesfromsystemtoapplicationleveltoallowdisparatesystemstointerchangeinformationaboutmultimediacontent.Itdescribesthearchitectureforsystems,alanguageforextensionsandspecificapplications,descriptiontoolsintheaudioandvisualdomains,aswellastoolsthatarenotspecifictoaudio-visualdomains.Asawhole,thisInternationalStandardencompassingalloftheaforementionedcomponentsisknownas“MPEG-7.”MPEG-7isdividedintoeightparts(asdefinedintheForeword).ThispartoftheMPEG-7Standard(Part4:Audio)specifiesdescriptiontoolsthatpertaintomultimediaintheaudiodomain.Seebelowforfurtherdetailsofapplication.ThispartoftheMPEG-7Standardisintendedtobeimplementedinconjunctionwithotherpartsofthestandard.Inparticular,MPEG-7Part4:AudioassumesknowledgeofPart2:DescriptionDefinitionLanguage(DDL)initsnormativesyntacticdefinitionsofDescriptorsandDescriptionSchemes.ThispartofthestandardalsohasdependenciesuponclausesinPart5:MultimediaDescriptionSchemes,namelymanyofthefundamentalDescriptionSchemesthatextendthebasictypecapabilitiesoftheDDL.MPEG-7isanextensiblestandard.ThemethodtoextendthestandardbeyondtheDescriptionSchemesprovidedinthestandardistodefinenewonesintheDDL,andtomakethoseDSsavailablewiththeinstantiateddescriptions.FurtherdetailsareavailableinPart2.Toavoidduplicatefunctionalitywithotherpartsofthestandard,theDDListheonlyextensionfacilityprovided.2FieldsofapplicationMPEG-7Part4:Audioisapplicabletoallformsofaudiocontent.Theencodingformatormediumofthesaidaudioisnotlimitedinanyway,andmayincludeaudioheldinananaloguemediumsuchasmagnetictapeoropticalfilm.Thecontentoftheaudioisnotlimitedwithinorwithoutmusic,speech,soundeffects,soundtracks,oranymixturesthereof.ThetoolslistedinthispartoftheInternationalStandardareapplicabletobothaudioinisolationandtoaudioassociatedwithvideo.ThespecifictoolsprovidedwithintheAudioportionofthestandardaredesignedtoworkinconjunctionwiththeMultimediaDescriptionSchemesthatapplytobothaudioandvideo.Becauseofthe“toolbox”natureofthestandard,themostappropriatetoolsfromthedifferentpartsofthestandardmaybemixed,withintheconstraintsoftheDDL.TheMPEG-7Audiotoolsareapplicabletotwogeneralareas:low-levelaudiodescription,inthecaseoftheAudioFramework(clause5),andapplication-drivendescription,inthecaseoftheHighLevelTools(clause6).TheAudioFrameworktoolsareapplicabletogeneralaudio,withoutregardtothespecificcontentcarriedbytheencodedsignal.TheScalableSeriesprovidesgeneralcapabilitiesformulti-levelsampleddata.TheAudioDescriptionFrameworkdefinesspecificdescriptorsforusewiththeScalableSeriesorwithAudioSegments,whichhaspropertiesinheritedfromthegeneralSegmentdescribedintheMultimediaDescriptionSchemespartofthestandard.TheSilenceDescriptorworkswiththeSegmentdescriptor,andisapplicableacrossallpossibleaudiosignals.Thehighleveldescriptiontoolsareapplicabletospecifictypesofcontentwithinaudio.Thespecificdomainsarewelldocumentedwithintheintroductiontoeachsub-clause.TheaudiodomainsencompassedbythevariousMPEG-7Audiotoolsarespeech,soundeffects,musicalinstruments,melodieswithinmusicandgeneralaudiorecognition.Thesespecialisedtoolsmaybeemployedinconjunctionwiththeothertoolswithinthestandard.
